Willetton Junior Cricket Club is thrilled to announce that five of its outstanding young cricketers represented Western Australia at the 2024 State School Cricket Competition in Adelaide. Their incredible performances have brought immense pride to our club and showcased the talent and dedication nurtured within our community.
Ivan Bhowmick (U12 Boys)
In Round 1, Ivan Bhowmick came tantalizingly close to scoring his first 50, falling just 1 run short. His crucial innings laid a strong foundation for WA, securing their first tournament win. Additionally, Ivan’s exceptional bowling, marked by tight economy and key wickets, played a significant role in the team’s success. Ivan scored a total of 95 runs in the tournament.
Aarnav Pavan (U12 Boys)
Aarnav Pavan has been a standout performer at the State School Cricket Competition. His explosive innings of 53 off 40 balls against Northern Territory in Round 2, game2 was instrumental in securing a win for WA. In Round 3, Aarnav delivered under pressure, scoring a vital 33 off 20 balls to lead WA to victory against ACT. Despite the team’s loss in Round 4, Aarnav’s daring 38 off 36 balls against Queensland brought WA closer to the target in a thrilling T20 match.
Aarnav’s stellar performance throughout the season scoring a total of 135 runs also earned him the prestigious Players Award for the tournament, a testament to his skill, dedication, and sportsmanship.
Sanithu Gunasekara (U12 Boys)
In Round 3 of the State School Cricket Competition, Sanithu Gunasekara delivered an exceptional bowling performance for Willetton Junior Cricket Club. His figures of 4 overs, 11 runs, and 4 wickets were instrumental in securing a comprehensive win over Northern Territory with an impressive run rate and an overall 6 wickets in the tournament.
Anshpreet Kaur Hundal (U12 Girls)
In Round 2 of the State School Cricket Competition, Anshpreet Kaur Hundal from Willetton Junior Cricket Club played a vital role by scoring 49 off 45 balls, including 8 boundaries, setting up a competitive total. She continued her fine form in Round 4, with a composed innings of 26 off 39 balls, demonstrating patience and skill under pressure. She also scored a total of 92 runs in the tournament.
Aditi Patil (U12 Girls)
Aditi’s all-round capabilities were on full display as she played a pivotal role as a wicketkeeper. She scored 28 runs not out against SA and contributed with handy innings of 13 and 18 runs in other games. Additionally, she took 2 crucial wickets in an important game. Aditi scored a total of 61 runs and picked up 3 wickets in the tournament.
