The Willetton Junior Cricket Club (WJCC) recently wrapped up another successful season with a fantastic end-of-year awards ceremony, celebrating the incredible achievements of our young cricketers. The evening was a resounding success, filled with pride, laughter, and the joy of camaraderie expertly guided by our engaging Master of Ceremonies, James Hewitt from WA Cricket.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the presentation of trophies, recognizing the hard work, dedication, and talent displayed by our players throughout the season. We were honoured to have two distinguished chief guests join us for this special occasion: The Honourable Amanda Teo-Spencer, Liberal for Riverton, and Member of the Legislative Assembly, Dr. Jags. Their presence added a touch of prestige to the event and their encouraging words resonated deeply with our young athletes.
A huge thank you also goes out to our generous sponsors, who played a vital role in making the awards ceremony possible. Their unwavering support is invaluable to our club, and we were delighted to have them present the trophies to our deserving players. Seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces as they received their accolades was truly rewarding.
Beyond the formal awards, the evening was packed with fun and excitement. The inflatable Dodgeball arena proved to be a massive hit, with kids of all ages (and even some adults!) engaging in friendly and energetic competition. It was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to unwind, laugh, and enjoy spending time with their teammates and friends after a long and rewarding season on the pitch. The atmosphere was buzzing with positive energy and the sound of happy chatter.

The club also took the opportunity to conduct its Annual General Meeting (AGM) prior to the awards ceremony. This important event saw the club welcome four enthusiastic new members to the committee. Their fresh perspectives and commitment will undoubtedly be a valuable asset as we look towards the future of WJCC.
However, with new beginnings come bittersweet farewells. The club extended its sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks to our outgoing committee members: Prateek Jain, the dedicated Secretary, Subodh Nautiyal, the passionate Coaches Developer, and Rajesh Lakkala, the meticulous Equipment Manager. Their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment have been instrumental in the smooth running and success of WJCC over the past years. We wish them all the very best in their future endeavours.
The WJCC end-of-season awards ceremony was a fitting celebration of a fantastic year. It was a night where individual and team achievements were acknowledged, new friendships were strengthened, and the strong sense of community within our club was palpable. We congratulate all our players on their efforts this season, thank our incredible volunteers and sponsors for their continued support, and look forward with excitement to what the next season will bring!
